Roofing

Large Roof Project
In our years in business, JP Construction has performed hundreds of roofing jobs. Getting a new roof may not be something that the typical consumer gets excited about as it is seen primarily as a necessity as opposed to something voluntarily done to enhance a home's value or appearance.

But roofing has come a long way in recent years, and with more colors and styles to choose from than ever, getting a new roof truly is a great way to improve your home's look while adding better ventilation and preventing future problems.

And, just recently, several manufacturers have greatly improved the length of their warranties and they actually offer lifetime guarantees on shingles that used to be covered under a 30-year warranty.

3-Tab Roof Example
JP focuses primarily on asphalt roofing. This roofing is the most prevalent type of residential roofing that exists. When we replace a roof, we typically are replacing a 3-tab roof (a roof that rests completely flat) with an architectural style roof (a roof that has dimension and depth variation to it). Most people agree that the architectural style roof offers much more curb appeal.

When JP replaces a roof, we encourage the customer to let us install a ridge vent, if one is currently not installed. This is a ventilation system that runs through most of the length of the ridge (the peak of the roof). This allows the heat to escape from the attic space and allows a home to vent much better than one with only gable vents.

Architectural Style Roof With Ridge Vent
We always install drip edge when installing a new roof as well as ice and water shield. Drip edge is an L-shaped metal that runs along the entire border of the roof. It prevents water from running under the roofing shingles and getting into your house. Ice and water shield is a membrane that is installed on the lower edges of the roof directly on top of the sheathing. This prevents ice-damming from occurring. Ice-damming is caused during the melting/refreezing process of snow or ice that rests on a roof and can allow for water to eventually seep into your house.

Roofing is never something to be taken lightly. This is why we pride ourselves in completing roofing jobs properly and timely. We can almost always complete a typical roofing replacement job in 1 day. This prevents weather from being an issue during the install.
